The 2012 NBA playoffs get underway today with the first round kicking off. In the shortened NBA season, the playoffs seem to be upon us much quicker. In reality, the NBA playoffs are much like another whole season, which can stretch into June. It's time for the NBA playoffs, who's ready to win?

The 2012 draft first round is officially over, and it had many surprises. Many players went much higher than projected while others inexplicably fell. I felt that some of these picks are sure to be busts, but where there are busts, there are gems also.

Slowly, inexorably, deliberately, the NFL is moving closer and closer to flag football and further and further away from what it once was. Soon, it may be completely unrecognizable.

As soon as the first umpire shouted play ball, baseball writers everywhere decided it was time to make predictions. In sports writing, it’s one of the most ridiculous things there is and nothing more than a page filled.

The first MLB spring training game is just 19 days away and the best time of the year will start for me. I love sports, all sports, but baseball is something more than love. It is an obsession.

In sports, as in life, when a team fails it becomes everyone's job to assign blame. There has to be a reason why they lost. It has to be someone's fault.

All of this has happened before, and it will all happen again. Honestly, did we expect anything different?
You really couldn't ask for a better Super Bowl matchup than the Patriots and the Giants. The storylines pretty much write themselves.
Eli Manning has a chance to outdo Peyton. Tom Brady has his second chance to, perhaps, become the greatest post-season quarterback of all-time --if not out-and-out best quarterback.
Oh yeah, and then there's that whole rematch of the 2008 Super Bowl aspect.

The Packers have been upset by Eli Manning and the Giant's D. The Tebow time clock has struck midnight. Arian Foster gashed the Ravens defense in a losing effort. The lead changed four times in the last four minutes of the Saints 49ers game. The NFL playoffs have a lot of excitement to offer, but I believe they have two fundamental issues with their current format.

When it comes to college football, I am an SEC fan. I believe that the SEC is, far and away, the best conference in college football. However, I absolutely abhor this "title" fight between two SEC teams.
On Monday, January 9th the Baseball Hall of Fame will announce the 2012 class and out of the dozen plus canidates, and the weak first ballot players, I can only see five entering the Hall of Fame while others sit and wait one more year.
